Breaking Emotions: SMILES

Mettel Ray’s cool blogathon’s banner is on the right sidebar, if you want to know what’s going on.  Out of smiles and/or thrills I went with only the first this week. I’ll admit: I’m a sucker for sweet moments in films, always have been.

smiles

the painting scene in Intouchables

Intouchables is one of the best films I’ve seen and to this day, I remember exactly why. While dealing with a serious topic, the film manages to be cheerful throughout and god, a huge stupid smile was plastered on my face for the entirety of that scene.

writing the song in Music & Lyrics

I think I’ve seen Music and Lyrics for a solid dozen times – it’s such a feel–good film and very relevantly to the blogathon, has you smiling throughout. Yep, it is a silly romantic comedy led mostly by the charm of Hugh Grant, but it’s the kind of sweet silly I crave from time to time, at least. I can’t remember this from scene to scene but I know there was one where they were writing the song and after that was the sleeping together and stuff. So that’s my pick here.

the dance scene in Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows

(Yep, the last entry’s also gonna have HP in it, don’t you even worry hahah.) The most controversial scene in Deathly Hallows part 1 was where Harry asked Hermione to dance, when they were both at their low–point – they were stuck on finding the hocruxes and Ron had left. It wasn’t in the book but this scene is the reason films sometimes should stray from the source. I love, love, love this scene.

underwater tea party in Somewhere

As you may guess by my header, Somewhere is my favourite film and it really does make you smile at times. Ellle Fanning was so adorable here! Since I’

Upendi in Lion King 2

I love Disney and Simba’s Pride is my favourite Disney film. Yep. I love The Lion King, but it’s heartbreaking and while Kovu’s exile is too, it’s not nearly as wrecking as Mufasa’s death. Upendi might not be the best scene in the film, but it never fails to make me smile.

God, this part III really comes off as me being very cheesy, huh? hahah. Last post  in the blogathon coming up next week!

  3. Cheesy? Just a fan of sweet movies. Which is a good thing to be. 😉

It’s also a pretty good list.

  4. Aww, I love The Lion King 2 as well. I always feel kind of nerdy for admitting that, I’m glad you like it too! I still have Somewhere in my Netflix queue, I’ve been meaning to check it out, and LOVE The Intouchables. You’re so right how it deals with a serious issue by being so light-hearted.

    • Then we’re in the same boat – I was kinda reluctant adding this because nobody ever talks about it.

I don’t know if you’ll like Somewhere, it’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but you should still check it out 😉

  5. Great list you have here!

  6. It’s a cute list! I often forget that the dance scene wasn’t in the books because it feels like it needs to be there. Great pick!

  7. Oh these are lovely picks! I LOVE the painting scene in Intouchables, I would’ve said the same thing, ahah! Great stuff Elina.

  8. Love that scene from Harry Potter, it was so cute but its ending was quite sad.

  9. Great post, love the choice of Somewhere, such a good scene.
